I have been super busy at work and have not yet finished my next character design challenge. In the mean time, my friend, the super talented Jay Shuster has started a blog and it's awesome.

More character designs and illustration

Well, it took me a little over two weeks (crazy busy at work), but here it is another installment of character designs and an illustration using one of the designs.

Character design and illustration

Last week I decided to kick it up a notch and try to do character design along with an illustration that included the design. This weeks personal challenge was Joan of Arch, it took the whole week, and some ( I don't have much free time), but I got it done. I'm going to try and do this every week, but I'm sure sometimes it will take two or even three weeks to finish. I hope you enjoy.

Early bird painters show

A couple month ago, I posted a link to the blog of a few painter who get together in the mornings to paint, well now we have a show coming up in San Francisco. It's a great opportunity to pick up some amazing art and meet some inspirational artists if you make it to the opening.

The opening reception is on Sat evening 2/23 from 4-8pm

This is a show of 11 artists who all have day jobs (mostly at Pixar) but wake up early to do a quick morning painting session before they go to work. It’s a small gallery but you can see some nice pieces by dedicated artists. The group includes my long time heros like Bill Cone and Sharon Calahan, and all the incredible colleagues such as Enrico Casarosa, Robert Kondo, Jennifer Chan, Ernesto Nemesio, Dice Tsutsumi, Nick Sung, and a few outside illustrator friends Mike Dutton and Jimmy G.

I finish this weeks character today so I figure I should post it. This weeks challenge to myself was "Girl Rocker or Rockstar".

I'm back, with some character stuff

Well I have been off for a while attending to my family, but I'm back in part so here is a little character study I did this week during lunch. This weeks challenge was to design Robinson Crusoe, I hope you enjoy and thanks for all the kind comments on the arrival of my daughter.

New family member

I have not been creating a lot of new art, I'm spending all my time with my wife and our newest family member. Thanks for the kind comments and all the congratulations.

Painting with the early birds
