Pasteling last weekend

Thank you all for your comments on my last post I want to post more paintings like that in the future. Last weekend, however, I headed out with my wife and a bunch of friends to spend an afternoon painting and drawing. These are the pastels I did and I will try and post the sketchbook drawings later.

hotness. Pastels have just never worked in my favor. Mine would always just become a smudgy chalky mess. You have such control. fantastic blog!

Beautiful. That deep green of the water on the bottom one, and the misty city on the top one... awesome.

Thanks everyone.

There are few things as fun as heading out with some friends to paint and draw. I really struggled with the green water pastel, unlike the water study I had done before there were large underlying waves with smaller wind blown waves on top and the underlying waves moved really fast.

Thanks again for you comments it's very encouraging.

Terrific work, again. I agree with others who say pastels are quite a challenge. It's so easy for it to devolve into a powdery mess. You've got nice control of the medium.

Hey Noah,

Whew!...I thought I had lost your blog for a min. I'll put you on my links now, so it won't happen again;)

Your stuff is amazing and the way you handle water is just incredible. I finally bought my first set of pastels, so I'll be studying your work a lot from now on. I love trying out new mediums, you never know what you'll discover:)

Thanks for sharing and keep posting,

Hans

These are a real delight for the eyes.
They are all lovely, but the green one on the bottom is the most intriguing.
