Back to character design

I haven't been posting my weekly character design challenge because I have been to busy at work. I missed a few weeks, but here is last weeks design. The challenge description was frustrated witch, the line drawings are some of the exploration and the color the final.

I hope you enjoy.

I really like these - the one with her hands on her hips in the first pic especially. And the scowly one on the right in the second to last...

Did you color with pastel?

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to push the poses and shapes, but I'm still struggling a bit to find somthing I really like. It's great to see that people like different drawing.

Emma yes they are colored in pastel, but I used a technique of coloring on the back of velum so I can keep the line work. I stole the technique from one of my favorite illustrators Sergio Martinez( you can check out his work at http://www.bpib.com/art2/sm.htm and http://www.askart.com/askart/m/sergio_martinez/sergio_martinez.aspx0 he has also done a number of beautiful children's books.

These are great, Noah. I like all the ones everyone else mentioned, but I still like the first one on the third page a lot.

Colouring on the back of velum? Sounds like a good tip.

And lastly, thanks to for linking my blog, much appreciated!

Wow, your art is superb! I just discovered your blog by chance, what a great surprise! and thanks for the link.
Do you know Bolhem Bouchiba and Dominique Louis, I'm French too and good friend of them, I was at Pixar last year to visit them.
I'll be back to enjoy your beautiful work!

Stef, thanks for the compliment. I do know Dominique Louis since he is also in the art department. I have met Bolhem Bouchiba but since he is in animation I don't know him that well. No problem on the link you have fantastic work.
